WORKING TOGETHER · YOUTUBE THUMBNAIL DESIGN

Your next video deserves a clear visual direction.

You have a story to tell—and a specific audience you want to reach. I help turn that into a YouTube thumbnail with a clear idea, purposeful composition and a strong connection to your title.

Whether you need one thumbnail or ongoing support, we’ll agree on the direction, deliverables, price and timeline before work begins.

THE PROCESS

From your brief
to the final thumbnail.

01

Tell me about your video

Share the topic, working title, audience and deadline. Add a script or references if you have them.

02

Know what you’re getting

We agree on concepts, deliverables, price, schedule and payment—as well as any AI restrictions or privacy preferences.

03

Review and refine

Review the first draft and send a consolidated feedback list. We refine the agreed direction together.

04

Receive your finished files

Once the design is approved and the agreed payment is complete, receive your final files, ready to use.

HOW I CAN HELP

Support that fits
your next step.

Your next video

One focused concept, designed around your story and audience.

More directions to test

Additional concepts or meaningful A/B variations, quoted as extra deliverables.

Ongoing channel support

An agreed batch and schedule that fit your publishing plans.

A multi-panel story

Separately designed tiles with the count, rate and total agreed before work begins.

Need social media creatives, advertising or promotional design too? Mention it in your inquiry so we can define the right scope.

Getting started

What should I send with my inquiry?

Share your channel link, video topic or working title, intended audience, deadline and how many thumbnails you need. A script, key moments, references and any images you already have are helpful. You do not need a perfect brief to start a conversation.

What does a standard quote include?

One thumbnail concept and one finished design, unless we agree otherwise. Your quote confirms the scope, files, revision allowance, schedule and payment arrangement before work begins. Extra concepts, A/B testing variations and additional deliverables are quoted separately and only added with your approval.

How much will my project cost?

Your quote depends on the design complexity, number of thumbnails and any additional concepts or deliverables. Send the brief and I will confirm the total before you commit. Any change that affects the price is discussed and approved before the extra work begins.

How are thumbnails with multiple panels priced?

A tile means a separately designed panel or illustration—not every photo, face or object within a composition. If a thumbnail contains more than three tiles, all tiles are charged at the agreed per-tile rate. Designs with up to three tiles are quoted by overall complexity. We confirm the tile count, rate and total before starting; additional tiles require a revised agreement.

Can I try one thumbnail before committing to a batch?

Yes. A paid trial lets you assess the collaboration before booking more work. I do not provide unpaid custom trials. You can explore the portfolio first, and we can agree on a small paid project that suits your needs.

Feedback & delivery

How many revisions are included?

Projects below $30 include two revision rounds. Projects of $30 or more include unlimited revisions within the agreed concept, brief and review window. The threshold is based on the total agreed project design fee, whether it is a single thumbnail or a batch, and applies to every included thumbnail—including multi-tile designs. Optional PSD add-on charges do not count toward that threshold.

One round means one consolidated feedback list. A new topic, new concept, extra design or additional tile is a scope change and is quoted separately. Mistakes on my side are corrected free and do not use a revision round.

How long do I have to request revisions?

Each thumbnail has a 14-calendar-day review window from its first draft, ending earlier if you give final approval for that thumbnail. In a batch, each thumbnail has its own window. Requests received within that window will be completed even if the work finishes later. Delays on my side extend the window; client delays do not automatically extend it, but we can agree on an exception in writing.

When will I receive the first draft?

For a standard single thumbnail, the first draft is usually ready in 2–3 business days after the complete brief, required assets and agreed payment are received—or the Upwork milestone is funded. Complex designs, multi-tile work and batches have a separately agreed schedule. Revision time is additional; the first-draft estimate is not a promise of final delivery.

Will I receive the editable Photoshop file?

Your final JPG/PNG is included. The editable PSD is included for thumbnails costing $10 or more per thumbnail. For thumbnails below $10, it is available for an additional $3 per thumbnail. Your quote confirms the files you will receive.

What if I need more time to send feedback or assets?

Please let me know so we can adjust the schedule. Late assets or feedback may shift delivery dates. After 14 calendar days without a response and a reminder, the project may be paused. Restarting depends on availability, with no fee solely for the pause. The revision window still applies unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Payment & peace of mind

How does payment work?

For a direct single-thumbnail project or paid trial, payment is due in full before work starts. Larger direct projects normally use 50% to begin and 50% before final usable files are released. Recurring work can use an agreed prepaid batch. We confirm the available payment method, currency and any applicable fees before you book.

Can we work through Upwork?

Yes. Where eligible, I can invite a new-to-Upwork direct client through Upwork Direct Contracts. If you already use Upwork, we can arrange a regular Upwork contract. An account and platform fees may apply. Fixed-price milestones are funded before work begins and follow Upwork’s submission and payment-release process; funding escrow is different from releasing payment to me.

What happens if I need to cancel?

If you cancel, you pay for completed stages, the documented portion of any stage in progress and approved non-refundable expenses. Any unused balance is refunded. Stage values are agreed in the quote beforehand.

If I need to cancel, I will notify you promptly and refund unfinished work. I only charge for usable completed work that meets the brief and is handed over. If nothing usable is delivered, the design payment is refunded in full. For Upwork projects, the platform’s procedures also apply.

Will my thumbnail appear in your portfolio?

We clarify permission before the contract starts. I only display the work on my website or social channels if you allow it and the video is public. If you prefer privacy, the work stays private. Using your name, a testimonial or performance figures in a case study requires separate permission.

Do you use AI in the design process?

My workflow can combine AI-assisted imagery with manual Photoshop compositing, retouching and finishing. Please share any restrictions before we start, including whether they prohibit AI-generated imagery or all AI tools. I only accept a manual-only brief if I can deliver it as agreed, and price it accordingly. Any change to the agreed approach needs your approval.

Can you guarantee a higher click-through rate?

No specific CTR, view count or growth result can be guaranteed. My work focuses on clear visual hierarchy, audience relevance and the relationship between your title and thumbnail. Performance also depends on the video, topic, audience and distribution. Additional concepts for testing can be included in your quote.

Can we agree on a different arrangement?

Yes. These are the usual starting terms, with room for discussion where the project calls for it. Any exception is mutually agreed and confirmed in writing before the affected work begins, so both of us know what to expect.
